Why do kids always get what they want?

Have you ever wondered why on earth did you bought all those toys for your children those past few years? Did you willingly do so without them asking for it in the first place? Did they starts to ask for more toys eventually? So how exactly do kids know how to manipulate their parents? Does it comes to them naturally? Or did 'we' pampered our children too much?
